Story
I entered the London Marathon ballot, and frighteningly, and against massive odds, secured a space for the 2023 event.
Whilst my first thought was that I had to beat Julia’s fastest time, this is the first marathon I have ever ran, and despite being able to move myself fairly comfortably around a gym or cover a fair few miles on a bike, running 26.2 miles is completely out of my comfort zone, and one of the biggest physical challenges I have ever faced.
But I know that sore knees or tight muscles is nothing compared to the physical and mental challenge people face when they receive a cancer diagnosis, and charities like Friends of The Cancer Centre in Belfast ensure patients receive the best possible holistic care. This includes complementary therapies and emotional support through very difficult times.
This charity means a great deal to me and my partner Julia, and we would be so grateful for any donations you could make to support me and make this particularly long run worthwhile.
Cheers,
Scott
