Thank you so much for
supporting my Kiltwalk.
This is the fifth long
distance walk I will complete for Busega Scotland. The previous ones were the
Moray Way, Speyside Way, Great Glen Way and John Muir Way. This is getting
close to 500 miles – there is a song in there somewhere!
This year I will be walking
over the three days of the Virtual Kiltwalk weekend while completing the
Cateran Trail in Perthshire. This is a 57 mile walk over 5 days.
Covid has meant that trekking
is a mainstay of our fundraising, and we are reliant on the sponsorship we
receive. All the money raised through the Kiltwalk will go to Africa.
The focus this year is Mayega
Children’s Centre. It is a
children’s home for twenty-two vulnerable children and young people. The
Centre provides safety, and builds hope and confidence, with a strong emphasis
on education. Educational attainment has improved tremendously. The Centre now
has its own teacher, piped water, solar and mains electricity, vegetable
garden, kitchen, school room and dining room. The children are looked after by
a staff of eight Tanzanians. This year we have appointed a degree qualified
residential social worker to strengthen the leadership.
Busega Scotland supports the
management and provides funding, with our Scottish work done on a voluntary
basis.
Thank you so much for your
help.
