Story
Hi,
My name is Emily Hall, I am 18 years old and I am in my last year in Friends’ School Lisburn. In May 2021 I attended an online selection course with the charity Project Trust. I am absolutely delighted to share that I have been offered a place volunteering in Honduras, in Central America for 12 months in the year 2022. This is an amazing opportunity for me as I will be volunteering as a primary school teacher. Honduras is known for its impoverished education system so I look forward to helping a community that is not as fortunate as my own.
Project Trust is a charity that has been organising long term volunteering placements since 1967. Each year they select around 300 young people from across the UK for 8-12-month teaching, social care, and outward bound projects. They offer placements and an opportunity to help people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. They have partners in place overseas to make sure that volunteers skills can be put to good use in their host communities and do not take away any work or job opportunities from local people.
The only slight issue is that in order to embark on this amazing journey I have to raise £6,950 for the charity which I’m sure will not be one bit easy. In order to do this I’m taking on a Kiltwalk. This Easter, my family, some of my friends and I will be embarking on a 22 mile walk along the North Coast. Every penny I raise will be topped up by 50% thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation. Any donation you can spare will mean the world to me and my chosen charity. Thank you!
