I am taking part in this year’s Kilt Walk to help raise money for the vital research that Professor Charlie Gourley and his team in the Nicola Murray Centre for Ovarian Cancer Research, based at the University of Edinburgh carry out. They provide national leadership on low grade serous ovarian cancer clinical trials as well as undertaking vital laboratory research to inform the next generation of low grade serous ovarian cancer clinical trials. I was diagnosed with low grade serous ovarian cancer in 2018 and have been fortunate enough to be under the care of Professor Gourley since that time. The research and trials carried out by this Edinburgh based Team will have a direct impact on my treatment options, hopefully leading to a better life expectancy for not only myself but others effected by this ‘silent killer’. I am being joined on my walk by my wonderful fiancé Gordon, who has been with me on every step of this journey so far, seemed only fair to include him in this!! Every penny I raise will be topped up by 50% thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation. This means anything you can donate will have significant impact on the vital research needed to ‘cure our ovarian cancer’. Thank you. Laura xxx
