Hi! I’m taking on a Kiltwalk to raise funds to help further research in to low grade serous ovarian cancer - a charity very close to my heart!
Professor Charlie Gourley and his team in the Nicola Murray Centre for Ovarian Cancer Research, based at the University of Edinburgh, provide national leadership on low grade serous ovarian cancer clinical trials. They are also undertaking vital laboratory research to inform the next generation of low grade serous ovarian cancer clinical trials.
My fiancee Laura was diagnosed with low grade serous ovarian cancer in 2018 and has been fortunate enough to be under the care of Professor Gourley since that time. The research and trials carried out by this Edinburgh based Team will have a direct impact on her treatment options, hopefully leading to a better life expectancy for not only Laura, but others effected by this ‘silent killer’. As traditional cancer treatments are not effective in treating this disease, the research and clinical trials undertaken at The University of Edinburgh are critical for developing a greater understanding, and hopefully further effective treatments for this disease.
Every penny I raise will be topped up by 50% thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation. Any donation you can spare will mean the world to me and my chosen charity. Thank you!
