Story
ALWAYS HAVE REBELLIOUS HOPE 🖤
This year has been a particularly tough year for us a family. We got some news that no one ever wants to hear about a loved one. My absolute rock, my best friend, my Mum was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in May. This shook our world as you can imagine. We didn’t know whether to share her story, if you have had the pleasure of knowing her, you will know she doesn’t like a fuss or doesn’t enjoy being the centre of attention. But, we felt the need to share her story to spread awareness. There is no screening. There are no check ups that can detect it early. Testing will only happen if symptoms are present and generally this is too late. Instead we just have to be aware of the symptoms.
- Bloated stomach
- Feeling full very quickly/loss of appetite
- Frequent need to wee
- Pain in your abdomen
To ensure your loved ones are safe these symptoms need to be shared and become well known to protect those loved ones around us. Please tell your Mums, Nans, Aunties, Granddaughter’s and any other ladies to be aware of these symptoms!
The NHS have been truly incredible and have saved my Mum through major surgery and on going weekly chemo treatment. I want to start my own little journey to give back to the people that have helped. I am not one for much exercise, so my first challenge is a 10k walk to raise money for our local hospitals. I am so thankful for her consultants, nurses and doctors.
I will be walking to try and raise some pennies to go towards more cold caps used during treatment at lister hospital.
We continue to protect the little ones of our family so they know only what they need to know at such a young age. She gives her everything to those little ones and we respect her wishes to keep them protected.
Thank you for reading our story 🖤
