Story
Hi family, friends and colleagues,
Your support on this challenge would be amazing, as most importantly it makes such a difference to kids who really need it. Many kids have had a rough time recently, and this charity provides life-skills training and mental health support to enable them to gain qualifications and employment. This shows the impact a "Switch 180 moment" can have...a real opportunity to change direction for young kids in tough situations. https://youtu.be/Z15pIQSfeJk
From a personal perspective, I didn't realise how difficult this would be when I signed up!!....but having had to call it a day on a training ride only half way into the 113 miles I will need to cycle on this challenge, with nothing like the elevation this will entail, I now appreciate that this is going to be a real "dig-deep-day"!! Knowing that you have sponsored me will keep me going, and will help so much in ensuring I carry on and hopefully make it to the finish.
The Skiers Cumbrian Cycling Challenge will see a team from the ski industry and other ski enthusiasts band together in what will probably be their hardest ever day’s cycling. The route is that of the Fred Whitton Challenge, a gruelling 113 mile circuit round the Lake District taking in climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose. All in all there will be 4000m of ascent and Britain’s toughest climb (Hardknott Pass) with gradients of up to 30% (and that is not a typo!) coming at 94 miles.Everyone is taking part to raise funds for Snow-Camp, a charity that helps disadvantaged young people turn their lives around through snowsports, life skills, qualifications and work experience. Any donations would be completely fantastic and will provide the motivation for the team to keep on pedalling up the most demanding of hills. With thanks to our sponsors:Victorian House Hotel who have offered discounted accommodation to the team and who will be making a generous donation to Snow-Camp. https://victorianhousehotel.co.uk/
