We provide free accommodation for families to keep them close to their sick child

Story

Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support.

We are hosting a wonderful event on 29th October this year, the Dinner, Dance & Giggle Ball.  This exciting event will be held at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Stoke on Trent. It’s set to be a jam-packed evening with 340 guests. Arrival drinks, a sumptuous three-course meal, live bands, comedian, illusionist, a disco, raffle all topped off by drag queen compare “Ivy Rose” who will be hosting the evening.

Why have we chosen this charity? The reason behind why we have chosen this charity ties in nicely with the same reason why we chose our organisation name “Scarlett’s Wish”. Gemma’s daughter Scarlett was admitted to Alder Hey Hospital at just 4 weeks old.

She had to undergo emergency surgery as she was born with Volvulus (twisted bowel)  Gemma and her husband Lee were heavily supported by the “Ronald McDonald House Organisation” whilst Scarlett was recovering from her surgery. The RMHO supported them by offering accommodation close to the Alder Hey Hospital. Meaning that the couple didn’t need to worry about the stress of a daily commute from Stoke to Liverpool, which was over 1 hour away. Being able to be a couple of minutes’ walk away from where their daughter was, meant everything to Gemma and Lee.  The charity has helped tens of thousands of families taking the financial burden and stress of commuting away from an already intensely stressful situation. The RMHO provides a “home from home” for the families of sick children being treated at the Royal Liverpool Children’s NHS Trust, Alder Hey. They rely on the generosity of fundraisers to help support families.

Scarlett, now a happy and healthy 7-year-old little girl still hasn’t been discharged from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital but hopefully on her next visit, she will be. Scarlett recently told her Mum that her biggest wish is to help other children and families, and from that the “Scarlett’s Wish” concept was born.

Scarlett’s Wish is also seeking sponsorship and donations to make the event a success so if you’d like to either sponsor or donate a raffle / auction prize. There are different levels of sponsorship available to suit all budgets. In accepting the sponsorship or prize donation, we believe that in return, we can help advertise and promote your business to a great deal of potential clients throughout Staffordshire and beyond through our already growing social media platforms, potential radio, and newspaper advertising and on the night programme advertisement. Please email is directly for more information and ways to sponsor. scarletts-wish@outlook.com

Thank you!
