Welcome to the Nottingham Climbs Everest Base Camp 2022 campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

I signed up for this trek in October 2020 as something to work towards over lockdown and raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation. After finding out that meningitis affects more than 5 million people every year, and the bacteria which causes meningitis lives in 1 in 10 of the general population, and 1 in 4 students, the fundraising became much more personal. I've realised how important it is to raise awareness of this disease and to help the MRF to defeat it globally by 2030.

We were meant to be heading to Everest Base Camp last summer (2021), but the trek has been postponed to September 2022, so plenty more time for fundraising.

The trek is 11 days (9 days up and 2 days down), with heights of 5364m reached.

Thank you so much for having a look at this page and thank you in advance for donating - every little really does help!

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
