Story
Having been through some personnel health issues in the past year and even at the the age of 65 with an artificial knee I am determined to rise to this challenge. The charity supports personnel who at one time had the confidence, self motivation and strength to defend our country. Through no fault of their own it has been taken away. I want to help restore those qualities they have lost.
Every year the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST) plays a powerful role in the recovery, transformation and personal freedom of wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans. This sporting activity rebuilds their self-confidence and competitive spirit, through snowsports activities.
The charity has helped so many of those who are now having to face physical and mental challenges each day after putting themselves in harm's way in service of our country.
The charity uses alpine skiing, snowboarding and Nordic/Biathlon cross-country skiing, to provide an inclusive pathway for all disabled athletes to regain their confidence and spirit of challenge.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary of support for the AFPST, a team of Leonardo employees has devised the AFPST Summit Challenge 2020 which will see them cycle over 1,000km from London to the top of Alpe d'Huez in the French Alps in July to raise vital funds for the charity In the coming weeks, look out for the stories and milestones that we will share on this page and across our company channels.
