Story
St. Benedict School follows the challenging curriculums instituted by the Diocesan Department of Catholic Schools in ELA, mathematics, social studies, science, and religion. In addition, we offer the following exploratory subjects: STEM, Spanish, art, music, health and physical education. To meet the academic needs of a diverse student body, our teachers incorporate differentiated instruction in their lesson planning; through the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission, we provide additional services for students who are classified. As we continue to integrate technological tools into our academic programs, students have access to devices such as iPads and Chromebooks (Grades 3-8) which connect them to the web-based programs that accompany their textbooks and various online subscription services that facilitate individualized learning. Our Great Outdoor Learning Center serves as a dynamic, hands-on outdoor learning environment for our Grades PreK through 5. Our newly opened PreK 3 preschool known as the "Dr. Robert H. Harris Early Learning Center" serves two full classes of three-year-olds in a mobile learning environment which recently opened in October 2021. The Center for Innovation offers students in Grades 5 through 8 Green Screen technology for video production, a MakerSpace for robotics and design, and e-readers.
St. Benedict offers a wide variety of extracurricular clubs and activities, an active sports program, and an arts program that encompasses musical, visual, and dramatic arts. Throughout the school year, our teachers encourage students to put their faith into action by learning about the world beyond their immediate community and participating in service projects. The net result of these programs is a graduating eighth grader who is well-rounded and prepared to take the next step into high school.
