We're raising funds to support Mull and Iona Ranger Service

Story

For over 20 years Mull and Iona Ranger Service has been connecting the local community and visitors, with the island landscape, history and wildlife.

Thanks to generous support from across the community we have achieved the initial target to secure £6,000 of match funding from Nature Scot.

The funding raised to date will leave a shortfall of around £7,000 for the financial year April 2022 - Mar 2023.

Sam Hird of Carsaig wants to help reduce the shortfall and has offered to run a  Mountainous Monstrous Ultra Marathon. Sam will run up all the peaks of Mull that rise above 2000ft on a route covering 35 miles and with ascent of 17,000 ft up and down 12 mountains. This is equivalent to running well over half way up Mount Everest!

What exactly do our rangers do?

They support landowners and farmers to manage access, and help resolve countryside conflicts and issues on behalf of our community and visitors, they protect and monitor wildlife, lead outdoor learning and events, improve and manage footpaths and parking.
