Story

During the Coronavirus lockdown its given me plenty of time to think about how to set my own personal challenges this year and make a huge difference to local charities that are quietly struggling through this pandemic and enable them all to continue with the amazing work they do for everyone that needs it.

So with that in mind I have been coerced into taking on the Three peaks Challenge. For many that know me this is no mean feat and training has already begun, I shall be taking on this challenge with the support of a very dear friend Jason Logan who has promised to guide, support and encourage me every step of the way – no backing out now Logan!!!

We have decided to raise much needed funds for not one charity but 15 in my local area  - Every penny raised will be split equally across 15 local charities in Windsor and Maidenhead that have been impacted by the coronavirus. For more information on each of the chosen charities please visit the Charities’ page on the Magpies 150 Challenge website.

Subject to government guidelines we hope to take on the 3 peaks on the 24th May - Scafell pike - 978m, Mount Snowden - 1085m and finally Ben Nevis - 1345m. The three highest mountains in England, Wales & Scotland respectively all completed in just three days - a mountain a day.

The covid-19 pandemic has had a significant on many of Maidenhead and Windsors charitable and voluntary sector organisations. Some have experienced overwhelming increases in the demand for their support and services. Some have needed to develop new service delivery approaches. Others have had to reduce services or simply stop their service delivery.Common to all however is the serious financial impact they are experiencing due to loss of fundraising income or increased demand for services. The reality is that many local charities will struggle to survive or maintain the provision of services without additional financial support. The Magpies 150 Challenge will raise funding for 15 local charities. All provide vital services and activities for the benefit of people living in Maidenhead, Windsor and the surrounding areas and are in desperate need of additional funding support. All funding raised will be split equally between the 15 charities.
