Story
I have always wanted to run a marathon and run to help a good cause that means a lot to me and/or someone I care about.
If you don't already know I am a Dance and Drama teacher, through this work I have the privilege of meeting and getting to know several young people. One of these young people was going through the most heart breaking and difficult time as her dad was suffering from terminal cancer. When I found out this information, I was instantly heart broken as no one should have to go through such difficult times, especially not a lovely family. I remember being so proud and amazed at how strong this young student was, she would always power through the best she could and still come to her dance classes where she could. I remember teaching this student and watching her go through both 'highs' and lows each lesson I saw her, I was and still am so incredibly proud of her. In March 2018 the family lost him to his battle to Cancer. I cannot begin to imagine how hard it was and still is for them all. I am so close with my parents myself and I remember it really hitting home, I just wanted to help in anyway I could to support her and the family.
This story still really means a lot to me to this day and I still keep in touch with this student. I asked her what Charity really helped them through such difficult times and she said Simon Says. Simon Says helps and offers support to children who are dealing with the death of someone close. They offer information and advice on how to move forward, sessions, telephone support, opportunities to meet other families who are going through similar situations, training for teachers and other professions working with bereaved children and young people ... the list goes on! All of this is offered to us for FREE.
I as an adult really struggle to compute the possibility of either of my Parents becoming poorly or the thought of 'death' of a close loved one. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it must be for bereaved children. I want to support this Charity and help support young children during difficult times.
This really means a lot to me and I know it will mean the world to my previous student too. Please donate what you can and I will push through this Marathon knowing you've all come together to support such a great cause.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
