Story
I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Refugee Action, a charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK since 1981. Their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in Britain and should be able to rebuild their lives in the UK. They will get justice, live free from poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.
Here is a small list of what your donation could support Refugee Action to do:
- £10: essential supplies such as blankets, nappies and food for a family
- £15: data, texts and phone calls for a family for a month so that they can stay connected with their loved ones from across the world
- £25: help in training a volunteer to become fully equipped in providing support and advice for families with vulnerable children
- £50: supporting a family in finding accommodation so that they can begin rebuilding their lives with dignity
- £100: fee for an interpreter to attend five advice sessions and help translate for a refugee
- £500: help in paying for 2 months of volunteer expenses, ensuring refugees and asylum seekers have a sustained person of contact to talk to and ask for advice
- £1,000: project cost of interpreters for one year that will provide critical support to help refugees out of destitution and homelessness in a language they understand
Every donation to my page will allow Refugee Action to keep doing what they do best - providing expert support and advice to people seeking safety across the country and fighting for the rights of refugees. Together, we can make the UK a more welcoming place for people forced to leave their homes.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, and for supporting me in this event!
Lots of love, Sara x
