The Aspire Channel Swim 2015 · 1 March 2016 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

Over 12 weeks, from 14th September 2015, I'll be swimming 22 miles (the distance of the English Channel) to raise money for people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.

2 years ago my mum had an accident and suffered a spinal cord injury. In a few seconds her life changed forever, she was paralysed for around 3 months. It has been a long process but thankfully she has built up her strength and through her determination has regained a lot of her mobility. However, some people may never be fortunate enough to recover.

Aspire supported my mum while she was in hospital and so I want to do this challenge to acknowledge this and to help other people in similar situations.

I would be grateful for your support xxx
