Story
Along with our usual January detox, I want to also raise money for a worthwhile charity - so this January I am Stepping Up to walk 250,000 steps to raise money for the Miscarriage Association.
It is estimated that around 250,000 pregnancies end in ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or miscarriage in the UK each year.
This us us, we have lived through this; in May 2020 our pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage. I had to attend our 12 week scan and find out we had lost our baby, alone. We then went on to have a second miscarriage in October 2021.
The Miscarriage Association has been, and continues to be, there to help people; supporting thousands of people throughout the pandemic on their helpline and online support services. I would really appreciate your support and anything you can spare.
Thank you! xx
I will be using my Fitbit to track and record my steps.
The Miscarriage Association are challenging their supporters to complete 250,000 steps throughout January - the same number of steps as the number of pregnancies that are estimated to end in miscarriage in the UK each year.
Miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy can be distressing at any time, but the recent pandemic has made it especially difficult for many, with limited access to some services and partners often being unable to attend for scans. Feelings of isolation and loneliness have understandably been magnified by not being able to see family and friends.Throughout the pandemic the M.A has supported thousands of people through their helpline, live chat, and online support services. The majority of their income comes from public donations and fundraising activities, and they receive no statutory funding.
Can you help to raise funds to help support the M.A by sponsoring me as I complete this 250,000 step challenge this January?
Thank you for your support!
