Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Brighton Marathon on 14th April 2013 and have chosen to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. I have lost two family members to Alzheimers which is why I've chosen this particlualr charity.
The Stats
One in three people over 65 will develop dementia and two thirds of people with dementia are women.
Statistics show that the number of dementia sufferers is increasing over the years and they believe that over the next 40 years, the number of dementia patients in the UK will have doubled. The most common (62%) cause of dementia is Alzheimer's disease. This is a physical disease caused by changes in the structure of the brain and a shortage of important chemicals that help with transmission of messages.
How well are people living with dementia?
