Story
**UPDATE**
The time to run challenge is back for 2021 and we’ve got 188 people taking part trying to cover 50 miles in 50 days (with some aiming for 100 / 150 / 200 or 250 miles!) - it’s going to be epic!!
Sarah and I hope to run our cancelled races from 2020 this year and will hopefully be proudly wearing our Parkinson’s UK vests at the Great North Run & Ultra Tour Edinburgh in the autumn 🤞🏻
Berlin marathon will sadly have to wait (again) until 2022 but instead Sara is running The Wall 70 mile Ultramarathon in June and Sarah is running London marathon in October!
**UPDATE**
So clearly 2020 hasn’t gone the way any of us expected it! The big races we had planned have all been cancelled, however, we haven’t let that affect our fundraising too much. We still did our 50 miles in 50 days event which lots of our friends and family joined in with, and we have found alternative ways to join in with big events. The Great North Run has gone virtual with both a Solo Challenge (40 runs in 78 days) and then the Virtual GNR itself. Instead of running Berlin Marathon, we have been lucky enough to get the opportunity to run the Virtual London Marathon, as well as taking on the Ultra Tour of Edinburgh virtually too! 2020 has had plenty of obstacles to throw at us but we have kept on running and fundraising so thank you for your support! Xx
Parkinson’s UK is a fantastic charity who work tirelessly for better care and treatments for people affected by Parkinson’s Disease, and to try and improve their quality of life. They provide information and support, as well as funding research to work towards new and improved treatments.
This is a charity close to our hearts as Sarah’s Grandad was living with Parkinson’s for several years before passing away in 2017. Anyone who ever met him will know what an amazing person he was - probably the best person you’ve ever met. He was kind, caring, generous, funny and saw the best in everyone. He was a talented sportsman in his day too, although he would say we were “certifiable” for doing all this running and probably tell us “you don’t have to you know!”. We hope by completing this challenge we will be able to continue to help Parkinson’s UK in his memory to support their future work and other families affected by this condition.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you are able to make a contribution to support this fab cause, no matter how small, it will be much appreciated! Love of love, Sarah & Sara xx
