Story
Hi, Thanks for visiting my page.
I am raising money for the Alzheimers society as a couple of years ago my dad started being 'silly' forgetting things and getting confused! Last year he was diagnosed with Alzhiemers at the age of 50. It took our family by surprise 'as only old people get dementia right?' so it took some time to sink in.
But, we started talking about it as a family, we even joke about it now which makes things easier and it's even made my dad the most relaxed and chilled i have ever known him.
I have spent alot of time researching what dementia and Alzheimers is and have found a great deal of supoprtive information from the Alzheimers society and other organisations specialising in mental health.
I also work for in the care industry and have been able to get a first hand view of the dementia care facilities available across the UK, the problem I have come across is the distinct lack of specialist units for young suffers.
I hope to raise funds to enable the Alzhienmers society to provide imporved young sufferes care across the UK in a bid to ensure my dad and others like him get the best possible care and support throughout all stages of the illness!
So please help me raise money to help sufferers, carers and families whose lives can be made much more comfortable and stimulating rather than frustrating and distressing.
