We provide a Helicopter Emergency Service to the people of Hampshire & Isle of Wight

Story

Sarah Knott, Sophie Stevens and Lucy Linington are swimming the Solent (approximately 3.2) in August 2022  in order to raise funds for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. In February 2020, the HIOWAA came to the aid of one of Sophie and Lucy’s colleagues Ruth, whose husband Neil had suffered a cardiac arrest at home with Ruth and their children. Neil was given CPR and remained in a critical condition in hospital for some time afterwards, but thanks to the HIOWAA, Neil survived. We want to say thank you to the HIOWAA for the help they gave to Ruth and Neil and so we are undertaking this challenge in the hope that we can make a small difference. This amazing charity ensures that advanced critical care is provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week and it’s service is entirely reliant on the generosity of donations alone! Highly skilled crews of Doctors, Paramedics and Pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes and costs in excess of £15,000 a day are required to maintain this vital service.
