Story
Imagine life every month without any access to sanitary products.
Ladies - imagine not being able to leave your home to go to work, school/university or even to the shops.
Fellas - not even being able to go out with your sister, friend, daughter, wife, mother, or girlfriend!
Period poverty is real! There are millions of women and girls around the world (one in ten girls in the UK) who can’t afford sanitary products, resulting in using loo roll, socks, old rags or even pieces of newspaper which causes infections and cuts, leading to severe health problems.
I'm proud to be part of the Period Project movement and will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 14th October for Raise the Roof/Raise her Voice. I'll be raising money for Juliana Katini’s project who is revolutionising periods for women and girls by providing menstrual hygiene kits including reusable, sustainable and ethical cloth pads in Kenya.
I’d absolutely love to raise as much as possible but even if you can only donate as little as a fiver (the cost we easily spend in Boots!) would really make a difference! It will go towards providing a space, equipment and materials to produce these kits and keep up with demand. Once built, the hub will generate employment in the region and support hundreds of women and girls to realise their own potential.
We’re set on providing period products to all those who need them, no matter where they’re from or how deep their pockets are. I'd really appreciate your support!
Thanks so much! Wish me luck, SJ x
