Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

At the end of April I'm doing my first skydive to help raise money to fund the work of a charitable organisation that's close to my heart.

MPN Voice is a UK-based charity that leads the way in supporting people like my Dad who have rare blood disorders called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs). MPNs are rare cancers that strike at the bone marrow, destabilising the body's mechanism for controlling blood cell levels. The diseases can rocket blood cell counts up, or push counts down to extremely low levels.

Although they are officially classed as blood cancers these disorders aren’t normally immediately life threatening but if left untreated they put people at significantly increased risk of stroke and other serious complications.
At this time there is no known cure for MPN’s and treatment has traditionally just been focused on managing the risks and symptoms.

In 2016 MPN Voice aims to raise £125,000 to cover the costs of the next phase of the epidemiological study of MPNs in the UK, with objectives to uncover more information about the patterns of these cancers, to develop better treatments and ultimately, to find a cure.

You can find more information about MPN Voice and the invaluable work they do at: http://www.mpnvoice.org.uk.

Any donation will be hugely appreciated and I promise to entertain you all afterwards with video footage of me inevitably getting the heebie jeebies on the day!

About the charity

MPN Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), with accurate information and emotional support. We're funding research toward better treatments and one day a cure. Most importantly we offer hope to those affected by MPNs.
