Story
I am running the London marathon on 21st April 2024 to raise money for Hospice UK!
In my work as a GP I refer patients to our local hospice for support with palliative care, usually when there has been a devastating terminal cancer diagnosis or a patient is approaching the end of their life through chronic illness.
The hospice is invaluable in the service they provide to patients and their relatives. By preparing people for the end of their life and providing medication to relieve symptoms they can help to reduce pain, stress and uncertainty at such a difficult time.
Currently, one in four UK families can’t get the care they need and deserve when their loved one is dying. This needs to change.
It takes £3 million every single day to keep our local hospices open; two-thirds of this comes from individuals donations, including sponsoring people like me taking on challenges!
The photos are from the London Half marathon I did on 3rd September 2023. It was the longest distance I have ever run and it was hard work! The thought of running the same distance again in one go is extremely daunting!
Please sponsor me and help me hit my target. It will help to know I have raised money for a good cause.
Together we can make sure everyone affected by death, dying and grief gets the care they need, when they need it.
Thank you x
