Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I work for Oxford Aunts Ltd.  Oxford Aunts has been around for 50 years now, providing help and support to many different people.  One of our biggest clientele groups are the elderly people who are living with dementia; alongside the 850,000 other individuals in the UK who are suffering with various forms of the disease.  This terrible disease is upsetting for both the client and the family.

Oxford Aunts provide the client with a live-in carer to assist them in their own home.  The carer can deal with many aspects of the home, from household chores such as shopping, cooking, light household duties.  As well as dealing hands-on with the client, helping them to wash and dress, assisting with toileting, helping with medication.  As well as skills matching, Oxford Aunts also like to match the personality.  Our clients like to still have a social life and enjoy going out with the carer for lunch or to the theatre etc.  Oxford Aunts carers encourage our clients to remain as independent, active and social as possible, despite suffering with Dementia.

With this in mind, I am running on behalf of Dementia UK to help aid awareness and raise funds to allow the charity to continue to support families.
