Story
My Dad suffered a massive stroke on 29th June this year. He was cooking dinner at the time and it happened without any warning.
Dad was a fit, active, happy 74 year old, who was still working and living life to the full. He had been skiing earlier in the year and even went clubbing in Ibiza!
He is now totally dependent, wheel-chair bound and with significant brain damage. Sadly he has no memory at all of his life before his stroke and communication is extremely difficult which is the thing he finds most depressing. But he is a stroke survivor.
Dad ran two London Marathons for charity and I want to follow in his footsteps now and raise money for The Stroke Association. I also hope that my efforts will raise awareness of this terrible condition which is the third biggest killer in the UK.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
The effect of Stroke on our family has been traumatic and we miss Dad's presence in our lives hugely. The Stroke Association is the only UK wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. Any donation you can make to help me reach my target for them is hugely appreciated.
