We fund vital research into breast cancer to increase survival after diagnosis

Story

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my fundraising page.

As some of you might know, next month I’ll be trying to walk a 100km trail in Hong Kong. The trail, known as the Maclehose Trail, is situated in Hong Kong’s New Territories and undulates precipitously up and down 11 peaks. If and when I finish, I will have climbed a total of 16,000 feet, which is roughly the same height as Everest’s Base Camp or East Africa’s Kilimanjaro.

My team and I are targeting a time of 24 hours to complete this route, and with the generous help of our support crew and some luck we will finish in one piece as well as one day. Knees will be creaking and backs aching, but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to, and I’ve no doubt that it will be harder than any physical test I’ve undertaken before.

There are plenty of lots of reasons for putting myself through such an ordeal – working off some of this year’s Sauv Blanc being top of the list – and whilst the early starts for training and endless blisters are taking their toll, the thought that my efforts might raise a few bob for a worthwhile charity help get me up the countless sets of stairs that have taken over my evenings.

I’ve decided to support a charity called Against Breast Cancer for a number of reasons, and no doubt many of you will be aware of the work they do. As well as this, as a team we are also raising funds in Singapore for Oxfam who are organising the race.

I would be EXTREMELY grateful for anything you might be able to contribute - donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Against Breast Cancer will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you

Many thanks for your support.
