Story
I managed the walk in around 1hr 52 which I'm pleased with. wasn't so pleased about going up the bigger hill though :)
Thank you for supporting me to take part in Memory Walk this year and raise much needed funds for Alzheimer's Society.
All of the money I raise will help support people living with dementia and their families, so your donation will make a huge difference.
Just £50 will pay for someone with dementia to go to a Dementia Café session every week for a month, where they can meet others, share experiences and feel less isolated. And the more I raise, the bigger the difference it will make.
My great aunt, Shelagh Lewis, was diagnosed with alzheimers shortly before she died from a heart attack in 2005. I remember her with great fondness and am glad to be giving something back to help others like her. My godmother has a form of dementia too and has had to move into a secure home. Any of my friends who met Aunty Pat will know how difficult that must be for her and her family. I know she would chuckle greatly over me walking 10k but keeping that thought with me will, I hope, spur me on.
I know times are tough but please dig deep and donate whatever you can, I know the money raised will be put to good use and I'll have literally walked my legs off to get it. xx
