I am going to keep this quite short as this is still a very a emotional subject for me to discuss...

Anyone close to either of us will know the heart ache we went through when we lost Betty on 29th April last year (2013). As my Grandma and Jayne's Mum she was such a special person to us both, and still is. 

My Mum, Jayne, was her carer for the last 5 years of her life when she suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I can't put into words how awful this disease truly is, it destroys your identity and dignity as a human being. 

The only blessing is that my Grandma was quite happy plodding along in her Alzheimer's bubble or world so to speak. For us however, as her Daughter and Granddaughter, it is heart-breaking watching the person you love deteriorate back into child form. For that, I want to say how inspiring my Mum is - What a strong, caring, brave and loving woman to care for her own Mum whilst suffering herself. 

Through these 5 years, my Mum got very little support or help from the government. My Grandma needed support and supervision 24/7 and this is what my Mum gave her - And for what? The £59.75 a week? I don't think so. Like I said - What an inspiration.

So for that, please donate any amount - 

Do it for the carers who are not given enough recognition, for day centres and other services to provide social stimulation for the suffers and respite for carers and most of all do it for the future us - 1 in 3 people develop Alzheimer's disease. We need to keep researching for a cure or prevention because at the moment there is nothing.
