Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After around 4 hours sleep on the friday night day 1 of the C2C started off rough, 8 of us cycled as a group as far as Keswick where we took in some amazing scenery before splitting into 2 groups. In the rain and wind we passed a sign "Penrith 13 miles" - great, an hour an a half we will be there...2 hours later a sign "Penrith 12 miles" - we still dont know where we went wrong but did about 20 miles unecessarily! Through pain from been hunched up on my bike for about 10 hours and exhausion from lack of sleep I managed to throw up what was left in my stomach and covered in sick/snot/sweat (am I painting the picture yet?) and tears I decided that was day 1 pretty much over for me.
Lovely meal in the Alston House hotel on saturday night - very funny when 2 random cyclists were mistaken for my friends Helen and Fiona (who did over 13 hours to complete day 1- amazing determination!). Some of the sage cycle club cheered, congratulated and even took pictures of these two exhausted ladies- we have no idea who they were! Fell asleep in a dirty bed in a youth hostel - last words before I fell asleep was Helen saying "Ugh there is blood on my Duvet".
Little did I know at this point my bed was worse... I got a tic in my leg that could only have come from sleeping in he filthy youth hostel bed!
Day two started much better, we 3 girls stuck together and cycled at a gentle pace taking loads of photos and cooing over puppy's and lambs. The morning was spend cycling up hills around Alston/ Allenheads/ Stanhope/ Crawleyside then a lovely lunch at the top of crawleyside before an afternoon and evening of downhill riding.
Cycling through Newcastle at nigt after a music festival was tough dodging drunk people (1 of who pushed helen off her bike!), then we had to dodge charvers who were throwing stones before finally arriving at Tynemouth 12.5 hours later at 20.33pm - Shattered but very pleased we made it!
