Story
Dear Friends,
As many of you know I have run the 8.5 mile Great Midlands Fun Run (or the Sutton Fun Run) for the last 3 years. This year I have decided to push myself that little bit harder and run (well I say run, more a slow paced jog!) the Birmingham Half Marathon on the 24th October 2010.
I will be running this year for the Haemophilia Society which aids people who have blood disorders.
Haemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder, where essential clotting factors required for blood to clot normally are lacking.
These clotting factors are proteins that work with platelets (specific small blood cells) to allow the blood to clot. They help the platelets to stick together to plug cuts and breaks. As the blood does not clot normally, bleeding episodes will not only last for longer, bruising occurs after minor knocks and bumps, in addition to this, it is not uncommon for spontaneous bleeding to arise with know obvious cause.
Every penny that is raised will make such a difference and would be so greatly appreciated by those who suffer from this.
Not only will this money go towards this worthy cause, but it will also motivate me along the way, especially considering the amount of blisters I managed to get from my training!
Many of you were so generous donating for the Great Midlands Fun Run so please please please dig deep in your pockets and donate some more :)
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
