I’ve decided to run Windermere Marathon in may 2020, I have never done any running before so thought I would choose the UK’s 2nd toughest road Marathon as my first. A couple of weeks ago I started a stride out running group, a group for beginners and aim to join the club after the 12 week beginners course, so what’s gonna get me through the marathon? The answer is 2 things I am fighting my mental ill health one footstep at a time and the second is this amazing charity that I am raising money for as they hold a special place in my heart for the things that they do to help young people and families at risk of exploitation, criminality and various types of abuse offering inspirational residential experiences at brathay to help transform their outlook, amongst a number of other supports they provide across the UK from their Lake District base, seeing what Brathay do showed me that the outdoors and exercise can do for your mental health and after watching my husband do their 10 marathons in 10 days challenge I was inspired and wanted to help my self and the charity at the same time tho on a smaller scale of just one marathon, I will keep you updated on how my training is going and of smaller runs I will be doing as part of the training for the big day
