Story
Picture the scene: It's Christmas and you're two glasses of wine into your festive meal. You're about to take a bite of delicious roast potato and your sister and brother-in-law casually drop in the question: "Fancy running a marathon in October?"
You can't ignore the shiny gauntlet thrown down in front of you, so you find yourself answering: "Yeah, sure, why not?!"
So, at the end of October a little group of us are going to run the 26.2 miles between Nice and Cannes. Since that Christmas conversation, my sister Diana's been receiving treatment for breast cancer and her chemo is possibly going to scupper her chances of running it this year. (I say "possibly" because if there's the smallest chance of her lining up at the start line, she'll find it, believe me!!!) Breast cancer treatments and preventative drugs are evolving and improving all the time, which is fantastic and it seems right to use this marathon to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now, a great charity which funds research and provides support for millions of people.
So if you can spare a few quid towards this fabulous charity, we would be so grateful.
