Run for Congo Women · 2 September 2012 ·

Women for Women International supports women who live in some of the world’s most dangerous places. Women enrol on the charity’s year-long training programme, where they learn how to earn and save money, improve their family’s health and make their voices heard at home and in their community.

Story

Hello!

Thanks for coming to look at my fundraising page.

As you may or may not know, I am a TERRIBLE runner. Ask my friends and you'll hear how I don't run in public because I look ridiculous. My legs flail, my back is weirdly straight (kind of like Michael Johnson, only more wobbly) and my arms flap. People laugh. Loudly. Until very recently I had been so ashamed of my run I hadn't done more than a half-hearted jog for a bus or train since I left school.

But this is all changing! I am determined to drag myself round this 10k. Women for Women do completely fantastic work supporting women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo who live daily with the very real threat of rape. Women who have lived and are living through war. I don't mean to be too dramatic, but helping them is very important and it's a cause I feel very passionate about. So please, please sponsor me!

Thank you heaps x
