In 2022 I ran 47 miles raising £1500 to help support the amazing work  Teesside Dementia Link Services were doing to help my parents and others living with dementia. Sadly my father passed away in December, a difficult time, but TDLS were there helping literally every step of the way. 

I needed an even bigger challenge this time so in April 2023 I’ll be joining 1200 others in the Saharan Desert to complete what has become known as the Toughest Footrace on Earth, the Marathon des Sables. I’ll be covering the equivalent of 6 marathons over 7 days and being totally self sufficient apart from the water and Berber ‘tents’ the organisers provide. 

As much as I love the sun and running I don't for one minute imagine this is going to be easy however this suffering will still be nothing compared to what those living with and caring for those with dementia go through. 

Once again I’d like to try to raise a little to allow TDLS to continue to offer their inspirational support to as many as possible across the Tees Valley, from the professional guidance on how to navigate the government forms to actually receive what little help is available to taking folk for fish and chips and ice creams! 

I genuinely do not know how we would have got through the last few years without them.
