Where do I start Dave Taylor is one the greats and is and always has been a local house hold name and I have the pleasure of calling him my Dad. My dad is a provider and fixer that is what he was made to do nothing is ever too much for him
My dad has created a successful window business hence being a well-known local household name. He puts his heart and soul into all he does, he is a very passionate man his love for freemasonry and the band of brothers but specially his family my mum and his 5 daughters and more grandchildren than I can count.
The news that my dad has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer was completely unexpected and certainly not any easier to hear following my mum also being in remission from breast cancer. 17 years ago, he sadly lost his dad our grandad to prostate cancer, it was this time I witnessed a side to my dad I hadn't seen before.
My grandad spent his final days in a hospice where my dad was present every day, I visited one day and was very taken back to how the cancer had taken hold of my grandad but he still had that loving smile that would fill any room with warmth. He was very uncomfortable and my dad helped him stand up to relieve the pain and discomfort from his bones and allowed him to rest his body onto my dad's, it was at this point I see my dad go from being a son to much needed support to his dad. We are now very fortunate that treatments have come a long way allowing this soul-destroying disease to be found a lot sooner making the survival rates increase.
I am running the London Marathon for my dad Dave Taylor to show hope and let him know anything is possible and not forgetting the memory of his dad our grandad Dennis Taylor
