Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
Me, Mum ,Claire ,Hayley , James and Rebekah are planning to do the 10km Weandel Walk to raise funds for the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund, in memory of Dad. Sadly Dad passed away in January 4 months after being diagnosed with this incurable disease.
MKMRF aims to raise awareness and fund crucial research projects and also Improve diagnosis, treatment and care for mesothelioma sufferers
Mesothelioma is often called the 'working man's disease' as it is caused by exposure from asbestos fibres most commonly as a result of occupational exposure, but it can also occur from asbestos in the enviroment, or handling or washing clothes of the asbestos workers. There is a long time interval between the expoure and developing mesothelioma, on average about 40 years. As the use of asbestos in industry and buildings reached a peak in the 1970s before it was banned, cases of mesothelioma are expected to rise for the next 8-10 years.
We would be so pleased if you could donate to our just giving page in Dad's memory ..everyone’s donation is welcome, even a small amount of money can make the difference.. to save, prolong and improve the lives of those with mesothelioma...
