We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

WellerFest is a year-long fundraising and awareness building campaign to support Brain Tumour Research and Alk Positive UK.

The Spinnaker Tower Abseil for Team WellerFest is the first event, marking one year since my seizure and subsequent diagnosis with Stage 4 Alk Positive Non Small Cell Lung Cancer.

I was diagnosed at 35 as a never smoker, personal trainer and otherwise healthy person. My primary tumour is in my left lung, with others in my pelvis, chest, neck and brain.

In my first year, i have had brain surgery, radiotherapy to my brain, and a targeted therapy. Recently there has been progression of the cancer in my chest and the abseil will fall (pun intended!) after 9 of 13 new radiotherapy treatments!

Brain tumours receive far less funding than is required, and in my case will certainly shorten my life. Please support us as we raise vital funds to further research into brain tumours and finding a cure.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
