Story
As many of you know, I am recovering from the hideousness that is Covid_19 so I thought I would use my walking to recovery as a way to earn some much needed funds for ELHT.
When I was ill, I was lucky enough to not need hospital treatment, but I did receive a home visit from my GP which was very much appreciated. People I know were not as lucky as me but received excellent treatment at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. In particular, Sylvia and Alan Coward friends of my Mum and Auntie, and Susan Ainsworth, a very good friend and neighbour to my sister. Sylvia, unfortunately, lost her life to this dreadful disease but had excellent end of life care and both Alan and Sue are now recovering at home, thankfully.
So my plan is to walk 26.2 miles over the next 2 weeks with my trusty sidekick, Bracken, gradually increasing the distance to reach my goal and join in with the team spirit of WLD.
ELHT&Me is the official charity for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The charity encourages staff and the public to raise funds in order to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population. All funds are for the benefit of our patients and their loved ones. Your efforts, support and donations make a huge difference for patients; improving the hospital environment, buying state-of-the-art medical equipment, funding research and teaching and helping us to go way beyond the NHS standard. Donors are able to stipulate how they would like their monies to be spent or which area they would like to support.
