Story
Recently my daughter, Sophie, has been diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease after a year of numerous hospital appointments and investigations. The Lilly Foundation has been of tremendous support to us through this difficult time and I want to help and make a difference.
I shall be proudly taking part in the 25km Thames Bridge Trek on the 11th September 2021. My husbands cousin, Louie Penny, shall be running the London Marathon on the 3rd October 2021. We are both extremely proud to be taking part in these events for The Lily Foundation.
This year has been tough for us all, but please give what you can. Together we can make a difference and hopefully one day find a cure for this debilitating disease. Thank you so much, Sarah, Steve, Sophie and Roman xx
"A Marathon is an event where everyone is equal and ordinary at the start but a legend at the finish" The London Marathon is always an incredible event that creates everyday hero's in the fight against Mitochondrial Disease. 10 million people in the UK suffer from diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction is believed to be involved, while every day in the UK a baby is born who will develop mitochondrial disease. The disease is debilitating, there is no cure and lives are cut far too short. The Lily Foundation's ultimate aim is to one day find a cure for mito. As the UK's leading charity dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease, our mission is to support people whose lives are affected by the condition, raise awareness and fund research into its prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Please support my London 2021 challenge and together we will make a difference.
