Story
Dear Friends and Family,
It's hard to believe it is marathon time again. Last year we were preparing for the 50th running when COVID-19 made that impossible. It was just too unsafe to have 50,000 runners and over 1 million spectators take to the streets of NYC.
One year later so many people have been vaccinated and are wearing masks to help keep our most vulnerable children safe that just maybe we can run this year. I am a long time runner who laces up my shoes to relax, notice more clearly the world around me and breathe deeper. Over the years it has been a way to make friends, explore new places and stay sane!
I am grateful to my running buddies: KathyK, Karen, Tori and the Rivertown runners for helping me train once again to run for CHAM. Getting ready for a marathon does not happen overnight. It requires early morning starts, a headlamp at times and inspiration. When I get ready to run in the morning I call to mind a child or family and dedicate my run to them. It's a simple practice and one that keeps me grounded.
Thank you for sharing the gift of your support once again this year!
Running on,
Sarah
