Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A little about myself and the reasons behind my madness.

I'm sarah , mum of 3 kiddies (who drive me crazy most of the time 😜) self employed hairdresser who's passion involves around the children and fitness .

For anyone that knows me I'm pretty strong willed and stubborn , The marathon was def not on my bucket list of things to do , however I love running and helping charity's so what a good challenge to set ! . .

If someone had said to me a year or so ago that I would be running the London marathon in 2018 I would of laughed in their face and told them to stop being silly , but hear I am about take on the huge challenge.

2 years ago I had just started to loose weight and get some kind of fitness regime up ,as one day I looked in the mirror and decided I didn't like what was looking back at me , on that day I started eating healthily and then joined the gym a week later ... I've not looked back .I started gym workouts and then progressed into classes of which I now regularly attend body pump , tbt and body attack . I took on the challenge of a race for life in June 2016 (my first race since leaving school ) and absolutely love every minute of it and then my passion for running came .

Last year I challenged myself further on a few races to fundraise  for St. John ambulance , the first being polsden lacy on sat may 13th and then 10miles at Richmond on the 4th June and then went on to do 2 half marathons in October (mad I know ) , so with this year now In full swing you know what’s coming up , a few 10ks ,my first half marathon of 2018 is feb and another in March followed by a 20 mile 🙈 run in March , and then obviously London marathon April 22nd , and although I said after London I wouldn’t do long distance running again I seemed to of signed myself up for Richmond 10 mile and applied for the parks half marathon (what am I doing to myself ?!)

At school I was a keen runner and did lots of cross country and was proud of my achievements, at one stage being in the top 10 for Surrey , I was born with hip dysplasia and had a operation when I was little to correct it and then wore a full plaster cast from ankles to armpits ,(how my mother coped I'm not quite sure) but having this condition did not stop me (stubborn sarah kicks in ) , I was told the possibilities of walking propley or running would be slim ... (not a lot stops me)it didn't stop me , and although I do suffer still with clicky hips and aches I know but I could of been a lot worse .

A bit about my life with St. John ambulance .

I became involved in St. John as a badger (age 5ish ) and became the badger leader of cobham division with a friend of mine , it was an amazing time where we taught young children age 5-10  the skills they needed to help people from first aid skills , resuscitation , and social skills , we loved every minute of it .

When pregnant with my youngest child I decided to leave St. John due to childcare commitments, this was a hard decision but something that needed to be done .

I met my now husband through my parents who also were members . My husband now runs the adult section in cobham and oxshot division , and spends many weekend attending rugby, football and school fetes , assisting people that have hurt themselves .

The reasons behind doing this crazy challenge is that my daughter now age 9 was delivered at home after a very quick labour (under a hour from the start) by my mum who had some knowledge of first aid (no midwife training ) , my daughter was blue and cord around the neck , without her training it could of easily been a different story .

Now it's time to give back ! , St. John assist the NHS and don't get any publistity for it , they are a amazing charity who have been in my life for almost 30 years and now are in my children's life's too .

St. John ambulance has been a big part of our life's for many years and they do an amazing job at training and educating people from the age of 7 upwards in life saving skills .

So now I’ve garbled on for a bit I need your help ..... please donate (no matter how small (or big) ) and thank you to everyone who has already donated , it means so much to have your support x
