Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I discovered during lockdown the great joy and benefits of being an outdoor swimmer, helped by the fact that I live close to the wonderful New Matlock Bath Hotel Lido which is a gorgeous naturally heated spring fed pool. There I rekindled an old friendship with the lovely Virginia who then asked me to join a team of ladies who all wanted to swim the Channel as a relay of six. I jumped at the chance! What an iconic swim to try and complete! What a challenge to try and push myself to do!
The Relay Channel Swim covers 22 miles between the UK and France. Completed in teams of six, each swimmer will take it in turn to swim the channel for an hour in rotation, until the team reaches France.
It’s not going to be easy as it is more than just the swim: coping on a slow moving rocking boat and jellyfish being two of the things I am not looking forward to! But the winter training in the outside pool should help us get used to the water temperature and I am ready to be part of Team Zebra. ( This year all the Aspire relay swim teams are named after African animals)
We have already started our fundraising activities as a team to raise money for Aspire, and have many more ideas up our sleeves!
Aspire works with people with spinal cord injury to create opportunity, choice and independence. It is a charity close to my heart as a dear friend Richard benefitted from its support after he had a spinal injury. So please help me to help raise money for this charity and support my crazy aim to do this iconic swim challenge!
