Story
Two years ago we lost a super special friend to cancer. He was 41. Micky embraced life and lived a very full one. He had huge amounts of love to give and was an amazing son, husband, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. He was a marine in the Navy and would, amongst other things, dive down to the deepest darkest depths of the seabed to diffuse unexploded sea mines! Fitness was a big part of Mickys' life which is why I've chosen the challenge of a Triathlon to try to raise money for Macmillan. Their constant support was invaluable to Micky and his wife Jo in their fight against the vicious disease.
I've never done a triathlon before and have been taking the training quite seriously for the passed 6 months. I have Micky in my head cheering me on when things feel tough. He was always so encouraging and had the ability to make one feel like a million dollars and that anything was possible.
I'm sure that everyone reading this has either lost someone they love to cancer or knows someone that is battling with it. No one should have to go through that painful and desperate journey alone. As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial help which Macmillan provide.
If you are able to donate, however small, it will be massively appreciated.
