Story
I ran London Marathon in October 2022 for Severn Hospice and I am absolutely delighted to be running for them again in April 2023!!
My inspiration comes from all the wonderful memories I have of my dear brother Bryan who we lost in March 2020 after his courageous and determined two year battle with cancer.
Our family will forever be indebted to Severn Hospice for the wonderful care and compassionate way they looked after Bryan when he needed them most.
Although no one ever wants to think that those they love may need the services that Severn Hospice provide, it's vital that they are there for individuals and families when they are most needed. I want to help Severn Hospice support other families with their steadfast commitment to step in and surround them with dignity, compassion and love.
We were blessed to have Bryan in our lives, he lived his life to the full even though he was taken before his time. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many.
He encouraged me to start running through a C25K with Lawley Running Club, he was a keen runner and run leader with the Club. He continued to encourage my increasing enjoyment of an activity I had dismissed many times as - "not for me " and he continued running right up until just a few months before he passed away peacefully in Telford Hospice. I am so grateful that I got to experience running with him. They were happy times I was lucky to share with him but I regret not listening to his advice sooner, then I would have had many more chances to run with him.
Bryan's enthusiasm, generosity of heart, strength and wisdom will never be forgotten. He will always be at my side, particularly when I run or maybe just a little bit ahead, encouraging me forward 😊
Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you.For every £1 you donate, they will spend 83p directly on care - and use the remaining 17p to make another £1.Last year, all those individual donations helped provide more than £9m of caring services.Thank you - you're amazing!
