Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I completed the 50k (31 miles) on Saturday 10th September along the Thames Path to raise funds for the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust (Treliske).

It was a beautiful, sunny day along the Thames and after the last few bumpy weeks we have experienced as a family and my poor mum struggling with health complications -  if i'm honest - I really felt I didn’t have the mindset to complete the walk and doubted myself right up until the finish! But thankfully at 8pm we crossed the 50k line!

Thank you so very much for supporting me all the way - your motivation words, belief in me and love as well as your very kind donations, mean a huge amount and I’m so very grateful.

There really is nothing better than taking time out to reflect and walking for 12 hours certainly gives you that opportunity!

I’d recommend it and might even sign up for another 😉! Thank you again.

This one was for you Mum, keep the Kitley fight up, you’ve got this! Xx

I have chosen this charity for a couple of personal reasons which I hope you don’t mind me sharing with you.

In January 2021, when we were all locked down, my wonderful grandmother Jean was taken into Treliske Hospital where she spent her final days. Sadly, we were not allowed to visit her to say goodbye, like many others who found themselves in the same very sad, frustrating position. Thankfully some lovely nurses were present at the time to hold her hand on her passing.

Since 2000, my brave and strong, Kitley-warrior mum has been visiting the Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) to receive treatment for Breast Cancer she then returned in 2019 for Secondary Breast Cancer in the bones which she continues to be treated for. Both the Mermaid Centre, Sunrise Centre and the Cove Cancer Unit within Treliske Hospital have supported her every inch of the way and are always available for any questions we have (which believe me is always lots!)

Therefore, I’m walking to raise funds for Treliske, the amazing NHS staff and everyone who leans on them.

I felt a huge loss when my Nan died, on reflection walking helped me through my grief. I want to dedicate this 50k walk to my lovely Mum &  Nan.

Please could I ask my friends and family for your support towards this very deserving cause. Roll on the toenails dropping off 😂!

Let’s do this!

Thames Path Challenge - Ultra Challenge

Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust - Together we can do more for our hospitals and patients. Patients are diagnosed and treated faster, families and loved ones are more comfortable, and staff travel out of county for specialised training - all through generous support given to

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity. Your support moves care at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance & St Michael's Hospital, Hayle), beyond the basic provision of the NHS.
