Story
On the 5th August I will be joining University Hospitals Birmingham Charity to trek Mount Snowdon overnight. Starting the climb at 2am making my way to the summit for sunrise.
Please support me and my cause as all proceeds will go to the Paediatric Radiotherapy department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Every year, hundreds of children come to the QEHB for courses of radiotherapy. The treatment is a course lasting five days, every week for six weeks. This is incredibly gruelling for people of any age, but what makes it harder for the young patients coming to QEHB for radiotherapy is that they have to be anaesthetised to ensure they do not move during treatment. This means that they often wake up disorientated and frightened in the unfamiliar environment.
With the money you donate QEHB are able to create a new children’s play area in the waiting room, where young patients and parents can meet others going through the same experiences as them, also providing each child with a quilt to keep with them during each treatment, and a special toy given to them on completion of their treatment to reward them for their bravery. Your support will also help us to keep the play area filled with toys and games for our young patients and their siblings.
University Hospitals Birmingham Charity supports patients, families and NHS staff across four hospitals in the West Midlands - Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull.UHB Charity supports patients, families and staff at their hospitals by providing 'added extras' that are over and above that which is provided by the NHS.
