Edinburgh Marathon Festival Half 2019 · 26 May 2019 ·
On May the 26th, I am running in the Edinburgh Half Marathon. When I first found out I was taking part in this event, I was unable to run 2 miles without stopping. Therefore, as you can imagine, the thought of running 13.1 miles in one go was a very daunting prospect. Although, I have found motivation from a cause very close to my heart.
It is coming up to three years since I lost my grandma. During the last few years of her life, she lived with Alzheimer's disease. It was very confusing and difficult growing up with a grandma who I knew was forgetting the people around her including me each day. Despite this, she still continued to be the happy, loving woman that I like to remember her as.
In her memory, I would like to raise money for the Alzheimer's society who are key in helping and supporting those with dementia, along with their carers, as well as striving forward in research to hopefully one day cure the devastating disease.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Sarah x
P.S. If you would like to check up on my training (or suffering!) I am posting most of my runs on the instagram account @sirwin_runs
