Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those who know me will be aware i have recently lost my Aunty Judith to Huntington's Disease, and sadly my mum Jane also passed away from the same illness when i was age 6.

Huntington's Disease is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system. It used to be known as Huntington's Chorea or HC.Huntington's disease usually develops in adulthood and can cause a very wide range of symptoms. The disease affects both men and women. Symptoms include involuntary movements, difficulty in speech and swallowing, weight loss, emotional changes resulting in stubbornness, frustration, mood swings and depression. Each person whose parent has Huntington’s disease is born with a 50:50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene. Anyone who inherits the faulty gene will, at some stage, develop the disease.

The Huntington's Disease Association exists to support people affected by Huntington's disease, looking into research to help find a cure.

I am running the Great 10k Manchester Run on the 15th May this year to help raise funds for this charity which is so close to my heart and would really appreciate your support no matter how large or small, my Dad and Uncle are also completing the Welsh 3000's which consists of 14 peaks over 3000ft in 24 hours, starting on top of Snowdon, which i will be supporting, therefore please donate now.

Many thanks for your support!
