Fundraising for British Heart Foundation
On 5 October 2019 I am cycling from Manchester to Blackpool, setting off from Manchester at midnight and cycling through the night. I am doing this to raise money for British Heart Foundation to enable them continue to do their good work.
Here is a little of my story:
After suffering 3 Cardiac Arrests in May 2016 I have struggled both mentally and physically to accept my new way of life and that my body/mind no longer work in the way they did before it happened. Doing this cycle is not only a physical challenge but also an extremely tough mental challenge as I am not confident when cycling on roads after being knocked off 2 years go. However, I am determined to do this along with my best friend Brian, not only prove to myself that I can do it but also to give hope and encouragement to all those with heart conditions and also to those mental health wellness issues for whatever reason.
Luckily, I was able to survive the Cardiac Arrests as I was given CPR immediately and also received a shock from a Defibrillator. I then had to 2 more Arrests whilst in hospital and had to be shocked again both times. You will understand that raising awareness of By Stander CPR and having accessible Defibs available is extremely important to me. If by doing this challenge 1 person goes away and learns CPR I will have achieved my goal along with raising money for an extremely important charity which is close to my heart.
Please give as much as you can to this important cause and also to give me a reason for getting on my bike that night.
